An update has emerged on a top AEW star’s absence, with the former champion expected to return soon.
Hangman Page hasn’t wrestled since facing off against Swerve Strickland and then-champion Samoa Joe in an AEW World Title three way match at the March 3 Revolution pay-per-view.
Per Fightful Select, Hangman Page is “poised for a return”. While Page’s return date is still unclear, the report noted that he’s expected to return to AEW TV within the next month, likely by early July.
While specific creative plans for the former AEW World Champion are also unclear, Fightful noted that he’s expected to continue as a heel.
The report also confirmed that Page’s absence was for personal reasons, with Page always set to miss this amount of time. Page reportedly wasn’t injured.
Many fans have been calling for Page to renew his rivalry with Swerve Strickland, following Strickland winning the AEW World Championship from Samoa Joe at Dynasty on April 21.
Strickland is set to defend his gold at the June 30 Forbidden Door pay-per-view, against International Champion Will Ospreay.
