CM Punk has taken to his Instagram stories to mock Drew McIntyre’s loss at WWE Clash at the Castle 2024 in an iconic fashion.
This one takes a little bit of explaining so you’ll have to stick with it to follow along but even without the back story, it is still a savage burn.
During the Royal Rumble in January, CM Punk was injured and Drew McIntyre claimed responsibility for having delivered the offending blow.
McIntyre then released a t-shirt design featuring a popular meme (of a man giving a peace sign next to a grave) but replacing himself as the central figure.
Mocking Punk further, the headstone on the image reading ‘CM Punk‘s WrestleMania Main Event 2024-2024’.
The t-shirt would be referenced as a point of contention in a future promo as Punk told McIntyre that has never needed to put another man’s name on his merch to sell it.
Tonight when CM Punk made the run-in to serve as a temporary special guest referee, he refused to count higher than two and flashed the number at McIntyre.
Now that CM Punk played an integral role in costing Drew McIntyre the WWE World Heavyweight Championship to Damian Priest not once but twice, at both WrestleMania 40 and now at Clash at the Castle, he took to social media to make fun of the Scottish star.
Posting an Instagram story using the original peace sign at a grave site meme, Punk instead has McIntyre laid out as if he is in the grave with CM Punk now with the two-count moment having become a peace sign in this context.
You can see the Instagram post below.
Elsewhere on Instagram, CM Punk also posted a story touting his own new t-shirt design on WWE Shop, a selfie of himself with Bayley who is holding a birthday cake as today is her big day and another meme.
This one replicates the moment George W. Bush was informed of the 9/11 terrorist attacks but instead with text – ‘Punk is here. …and he has pastries’
CM Punk noted in the post-show press conference (where he made a surprise appearance with the aforementioned pastries albeit donuts this time not muffins) that he was skipping this week’s WWE Raw in Corpus Christi, Texas.
Instead he will appear on the upcoming edition of WWE SmackDown set to hail from his hometown of Chicago on Friday, June 21.
