Disgraced WWE supremo Vince McMahon will never be seen at company headquarters again, according to one ex-employee.
For many, McMahon is the man who built WWE from the ground up, effectively inheriting what was a family business from his father who’d done so from Vince’s grandfather.
Under the promoter’s tutelage, the company was supercharged into a new ‘sports entertainment’ era in the 1980s, including the very first WrestleMania.
The likes of Hulk Hogan, The Ultimate Warrior and Macho Man Randy Savage all became household names before Bret Hart, The Undertaker and Shawn Michaels all did likewise.
The Attitude Era then made stars of Stone Cold Steve Austin, Triple H and Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson under McMahon’s charge, with the then chief also serving as commentator, character villain and occasional wrestler all in his own right.
Despite these incredible accolades and accomplishments, McMahon is now effectively estranged from the company he transformed into a global super brand as a result of serious sexual assault accusations levied at him by former employees.
The man himself has always strenuously denied any wrongdoing, but the negative attention brought about by the numerous lawsuits and claims ultimately led to his exit under the darkest of clouds.
He resigned from the Board of TKO, which effectively acts as the parent company to WWE and UFC following their merger and no longer has any involvement at all in the on-screen product – or any other for that matter.
The sheer extent of what amounts to a banishment from WWE has been revealed by one long-serving company television and radio producer.
Tom Carlucci racked up three decades of service with the grappling giants and, from behind the camera to working ringside, pretty much saw and did it all.
In an interview with The Insiders, Carlucci explained that McMahon ‘can’t step foot anywhere’ at the company’s Stamford HQ, saying: “He can’t even walk in the building.
“That’s crazy that you drive by that building, you got the big championship belt, he always wanted those from day one… you had the corporate office [and] then we’re right down the street from the corporate office, our big production studio.
“He always wanted us under one roof. That was his dream to have us under one roof. The dream came and he’s not even a part of it anymore.”
Especially painful for McMahon, who once founded a bodybuilding federation as a sister company of sorts to WWE, will likely be the inability to visit the specially designed gym at the facility.
Carlucci added: “The gym was created for Vince. He designed the gym with his trainer Mike, who I know really well.
“He can’t even go in that gym anymore. He can’t step foot anywhere.
“Every meeting that goes on over there, everybody asks: ‘Is Vince coming?’ ‘You’ll never see Vince here again,’ from the TKO people.”
With Paul ‘Triple H’ now spearheading the on-screen WWE product and the business forging ahead under TKO’s leadership, it’s clear the company has its sights set firmly on the future.
Legal disputes aside, McMahon has kept a comparatively low public profile, but Carlucci pondered whether or not the horrific nature of the allegations against him have left the 78-year-old billionaire isolated.
“I think there is a lot of strain on the family at this point in time with Vince, his kids, Shane…” he added.
“I don’t know for a fact, but I think it is definitely happening. I think he is alone; I think he is.
“It’s hard to believe but I really do, I think he is. I don’t think Vince had a lot of fans around him.”
