Royal Ascot is fast approaching with the five-day festival in Berkshire setting off in June with a plethora of the biggest races, fashion and always scope for winning on massive odds.
Last year, Royal Ascot only saw a few favourites win like River Tiber, Gregory, Docklands and Tahiyra but crucially, there were so many big prices coming home to win ranging from 10/1 to 150/1 winner Valiant Force in the Norfolk Stakes.

Royal Ascot is filled with potential, with spectators going throughout the five days treated to a huge spectacle with Ascot the most up-to-date venue in British racing.
Huge prize money is on offer and it’s a always an aspiration for trainers, jockeys, owners, stable staff, breeders and the like to get their horse in to qualify for Royal Ascot, let alone win a race at the prestigious event.
That makes the five days even greater as it can attract horses from all over the world and makes the spectacle even greater, with its unique dress code and expectations.
How to follow Royal Ascot
This year, the proceedings kick off on the 18th June-22nd June 2024, with races starting at 2.30pm with the final race at the off-time of 6.15pm.

Royal Ascot tips
- Tuesday
Queen Anne Stakes: Charyn 6/1
King Charles III Stakes: Big Evs 4/1 - Wednesday
Prince Of Wales’s Stakes: White Birch 5/1 - Thursday
Gold Cup: Kyprios 1/1 - Friday
Commonwealth Cup: Elite Status 7/1 - Saturday
Hardwicke Stakes: Rebel’s Romance 7/1
Charyn
Inspiral came close in the Queen Anne last year being denied by just a neck to Triple Time.
She went on to win three Group 1 races that year but two of those were fillies only, and she reappeared in May of this year with a poor fourth 13 lengths behind Audience.
Though she’s a tough mare to predict, she can often miss the odd training session with medical check ups yet still produce Group 1 winning runs consistently and it’s hard to rule her out.
That said, Charyn has been in incredible form this year and is seemingly better than ever now four-years-old and it’s tough to not back him each-way at this stage if the Queen Anne really is his race.
Big Evs
Big Evs has now won five of his seven runs and comes into this now as a three-year-old and on a run of three straight wins.
He won by three lengths at Royal Ascot last year in the Windsor Castle Stakes.
Beating 22 rivals at 20/1 having shown good promise on his debut, his only race prior.
Most read in Horse Racing
He stands a great chance of continuing his great form and that’s why he’s as short as 4/1 antepost with 25 runners with early entries.
Bucanero Fuerte is a very interesting each-way candidate if he goes this distance instead, dropping from his usual 6f to a 5f dash.
He’s got the speed and the power though so is worth a look if he’s confirmed.
White Birch
Auguste Rodin reappeared in 2024 at Meydan in March but was disappointingly last of 12 behind Rebel’s Romance.
He did come back to form at the Curragh in late May in the Tattersalls Gold Cup but it was really White Birch who impressed the most who went on to go clear by three lengths of the Derby winner.
The four-year-old grey had hinted at being a great Group 1 horse as a three-year-old but has really turned a corner this season, winning a hattrick of races already.
To beat Auguste Rodin like he did means there’s probably more to come from this exciting colt by Ulysses.
Kyprios
One of the few shorter priced favourites of the week, especially at this early stage, Kyprios in the Group 1 Gold Cup over 2m4f.
The six-year-old trained by the master Aidan O’Brien has also confirmed his Group 1 ability, a long time ago and has won two decent level races with ease as the heavy odds-on favourite, seemingly to prepare him for a nice campaign including this huge race at Royal Ascot.
He beat Almacado Gree and ten other rivals over this exact distance at Lonchamp in the Qatar Prix du Cadran, by an astonishing 20 lengths.
The then five-year-old was favourite on his next two starts at the Curragh and Ascot, but just got beaten by Eldar Eldarov and Trawlerman respectively.
There’s scope for another big price winner in this but for now, it’s really Kypios’s to lose.
Elite Status
Always liked this grey colt who won twice in his first two runs at Doncaster and Sandown, including the latter which was a listed contest which he won by five lengths.
He then went to Royal Ascot in the Norfolk Stakes, won by Valiant Force and was a close third by nearly two lengths.
Went to Deauville a month later and won a Group 3 when upped to 6f.
He’s much lower in the ratings than a few others but has always looked like a Group 1 horse and he won on his first run back as a three-year-old.
Rebel’s Romance
Eight wins from 11 runs on the flat turf and he’s a bit of a jet setter who’s won at Meydan, Doha, Sha Tin, Keeneland, Goodwood, Cologne and Hoppegarten.
He’s now got an overall rating of 120 and has won his last four meetings including at Kempton back in December.
The Hardwicke Stakes is an interesting contest that is wide open at this point with 28 early entries, but this Godolphin-owned horse trained by Charlie Appleby has to enter calculations, along with Middle Earth trained by John and Thady Gosden who impressed on his return.
