Leon Edwards and Tom Aspinall have been sharing ideas as they prepare to fight at the crack of dawn.
The British duo will defend their respective world titles in co-headline bouts at UFC 304, which is scheduled to take place at the Co-op Live Arena in Manchester on July 27.
Dana White’s latest UK event strangely won’t get started until 11pm.
The main card will kick off at 3am, meaning Aspinall won’t make his walk to the Octagon until about 5am and Edwards will fight even later than that.
‘Rocky’ wants to be at his very best when he takes on Belal Muhammad and has hired a ‘sleep specialist’ so that the unusual start time doesn’t impact his performance.
Aspinall recently met up with the UFC welterweight king, and the pair sat down to discuss how they’ll approach fighting in the early hours of the morning.
“I know Leon’s manager pretty good,” Aspinall said in a video shared to his YouTube channel.
“Good guy, Tim [Simpson]. My dad spoke with Tim, and he said ‘Leon is getting a specialist in, when you see Leon ask him.
“I’ve been waiting to ask you because I had some mad theory on what I was going to do, and it’s completely different to yours.
“Now, I’m basically going to copy Leon’s version and I’m gonna try for that.”
Edwards explained that he originally planned to change his training sessions to his fight time before being told that it was not necessary and could harm his performance.
He added: “At the start, I was similar. Like, ‘Ahh, I’m going to have to sleep in the day and be awake at night.
“When I spoke to the guy he was like, ‘You can’t do that because your body needs sunlight, you need daylight.’
“He was basically saying that you need to somehow adjust it so you don’t have to train at 5am, you can get your body used to 1am or 2am.
“After that, you should be fine because when I’m fighting at 11pm, I don’t train at 11pm. I’m usually done by 6pm and in my house.
“So, it’s basically moving the clock a little bit, hour by hour. Six weeks out, bit by bit, and get to about 2am. That’s where you want it.
“You’ll still get sunlight and you’ll still be able to train.”
