Enzo Fernandez and Mykhailo Mudryk have reportedly been blocked from playing at the Olympics by Chelsea.
The Blues have recently welcomed Enzo Maresca as their new head coach and are already making preparations for pre-season.
Many of their squad are set to compete in major tournaments this summer – Fernandez with Argentina at Copa America and Mudryk with Ukraine at Euro 2024.
The Paris Olympics also commence on July 26, but the Daily Mail reports that Chelsea have blocked the duo from representing their respective nations.
Chelsea suffered a huge amount of injuries last season and are said to be wanting a full-fit squad ahead of the new campaign with Maresca.
Midfielder Fernandez missed the Blues’ final six games of the season after he underwent surgery on his hernia.
The 23-year-old has 21 caps to his name for Argentina, with seven of those coming in their 2022 World Cup winning campaign.
They face Peru, Chile and Canada in their group at Copa America, which kicks off on June 20.
Fernandez is said to be willing to have played in the competition and at the Olympics, but Chelsea’s decision was ‘taken in his best interest.’
Mudryk spent most of the 2023/24 season fit for Chelsea but was absent from their final match due to concussion.
He has made 19 appearances for Ukraine and scored en route to their qualification for Euro 2024.
The winger is likely to prove key for his country at Euro 2024, with group fixtures against Romania, Slovakia and Belgium coming up.
Chelsea will be competing on various fronts next season, including the Premier League, FA Cup and League Cup.
The Blues are also set for the Europa Conference League qualifying play-off round, as well as the revamped Club World Cup at the end of next season.
