Spain vs Andorra predictions
No team has won the European Championship more than Spain. Champions for the first time in 1964, they became the only (to date) nation to win back-to-back editions when they triumphed in 2008 and 2012.
In between those continental successes, la Roja lifted the World Cup trophy in 2010. With three victories on the bounce, that team went down as one of the best we have ever seen in the international game.
Spain have had little to cheer since then, however. They suffered a group-stage exit at World Cup 2014, before being dumped out of Euro 2016, World Cup 2018 and World Cup 2022 in the first knockout round.
The only time they have come close to glory at a major competition in the last decade was at the last European Championship. Spain reached the semi-finals in 2021 and were probably the better team against Italy, only to go out on penalties.
In fairness, Spain did get their hands on a piece of silverware last year, edging out Croatia on spot-kicks in the Nations League final. They are among the favourites to go all the way this summer. The bookies rank them fifth overall at a best price of 9/1.
Unlike most of the other major contenders, Spain’s manager is not a household name. Luis de la Fuente has not managed a club since a brief stint at Alaves in 2011. He spent eight of the subsequent years managing Spain’s youth teams, chiefly the under-19s and under-21s.
He is a continuity candidate following Luis Enrique’s departure and Spanish supporters will hope his low profile actually works in their favour.
A tough draw for the group stage means la Roja must face Italy, Croatia and Albania in their first three games in Germany.
None of those matches will be easy, which makes it all the more surprising that Spain have chosen to face minnows Andorra in one of their two warm-up friendlies (the other, against Northern Ireland, is scheduled for Saturday).
Spain vs Andorra betting tips
It is not a matter of whether Spain beat Andorra on Wednesday, but rather how large the winning margin is.
Spain -4.5 handicap – 27/20 (VBET)
It is hard to see exactly what Spain expect to gain from this friendly. Granted, they are also likely to dominate possession in all three of their group games. But Andorra will be much easier to prise open than any of Italy, Croatia or Albania.
Andorra, a tiny nation of 80,000 people, finished bottom of their qualifying group, taking just two points out of a possible 30.
They took points off Kosovo and Belarus, and only suffered one-goal defeats by Switzerland and Israel.

Andorra will struggle to keep the score down here, though. Spain will be looking to build momentum ahead of the big kick-off and a demolition of their northeastern neighbours would be better than a 1-0 or 2-0 win.
There are still places up for grabs in De la Fuente’s side and whoever gets the nod on Wednesday will be determined to make an impression at the Estadio Nuevo Vivero.

Both halves more than 1.5 goals – Evens (VBET)
Andorra are ranked 164th in the world by FIFA, below Puerto Rico, Tahiti and Myanmar. That shows how much of a mismatch this is likely to be.
Spain have lacked a cutting edge at times in recent tournaments, but they have shown themselves adept at putting goals past inferior opposition.
They thumped Costa Rica 7-0 in their opening game of World Cup 2022. In Euro 2024 qualifying, Spain thrashed Georgia 7-1 and Cyprus 6-0.
They also found the back of the net three times in a friendly against Brazil, which ended with the score level, in March.
Goals should be on the cards in this one too (at least at one end) as Spain begin their preparations for a tournament they are hoping to win this summer.

Dani Olmo to score any time – 8/11 (VBET)
De la Fuente has tried to make Spain a little more direct since he assumed control. Possession is still the name of the game for this team, but they now have a handful of attackers capable of injecting pace into the attack.
Nico Williams, Lamine Yamal, Ferran Torres and Dani Olmo can all offer that change of pace, and the latter in particular could be important this summer.
Yamal is a precocious talent at 16 years of age, but it would be unfair to put too much pressure on the shoulders of the Barcelona sensation.
Olmo, 10 years his senior, is better positioned to become one of Spain’s leaders in Germany.
Whether or not he is handed a start on Wednesday remains to be seen, but the RB Leipzig man will almost certainly be involved in some capacity.
⚽ Go for Dani Olmo as an anytime scorer at 8/11 with VBET ⚽
