A teenage star scored the win in his WWE television debut and looks like he’s being primed for big things already.
The April 9 episode of NXT played host to the TV debut of Je’Von Evans.
Evans, 19, wrestled as Jay Malachi on the indies and joined WWE at the start of the year.
Having already worked untelevised house show matches, as well as numerous matches on Level Up, this was the first time Evans had appeared on NXT TV proper.
It’s the matches on Level Up that really helped Evans create a connection with fans early – both the fans in person at the WWE Performance Center, and on social media with clips of those matches going around regularly.
On the April 9 episode of NXT, Evans scored the win over SCRYPTS, formerly known as Reginald/Reggie.
Evans essentially overcame a four-on-one situation as well, as SCRYPTS had the rest of OTM – Bronco Lima, Lucien Price and Jaida Parker – at ringside to help him out.
It was very clear through the booking and commentary that Evans is planned to be a big breakout star even at his young age.
Commenting on Evans on social media, WWE star Dijak, 36, tweeted: “Great kid, special talent”.
