Jurgen Klopp got Anfield to serenade successor, Arne Slot, in an emotional Liverpool farewell for his players.
Liverpool beat Wolves 2-0 on Sunday afternoon in Klopp’s final game for the club after he announced he would depart this summer earlier in the season.
Speaking in his farewell speech, he managed to get a packed Anfield to sing: “La la la la la, Arne Slot!”
The Feyenoord boss has been picked to succeed Klopp as manager at Liverpool while there were emotional scenes at Anfield as fans gave Klopp a massive farewell, starting well before kick-off, while his players were visibly upset post-match.
That included Van Dijk, who had to hold back the tears after embracing his manager on the pitch moments after the final whistle.
Meanwhile, Trent Alexander-Arnold was seen with tears in his eyes after the speeches when the Liverpool players and staff sung You’ll Never Walk Alone together in front of the Kop.
Klopp has spent the last nine years at Liverpool where he has won everything he can, including the Champions League, Premier League, FA Cup and Carabao Cup.
There have been players with him through thick and thin, including Van Dijk, who he signed in January 2018 for £75million from Southampton.
The Dutchman turned out to be a transformative signing for the Reds, propelling them to great success in Europe and in the Premier League.
And the 32-year-old will no doubt go down as one of the best defenders of his generation and he owes much of his career to Klopp for helping him reach such heights.

The German manager was serenaded with his song after coming onto the pitch to give his farewell speech.
Speaking to adoring fans on the Anfield pitch, Klopp said: “I’m surprised. I thought I’d already be in pieces but I’m not. I’m so happy about you all, the atmosphere, the game, being a part of this family and about us, how we celebrate this day. Thank you so much!
“One of the Manchester City games we drew… That would have helped, huh?
“Thanks for ignoring my request not to sing my song for six weeks!”
