John Terry took to Instagram to post a heartfelt message to Thiago Silva ahead of his final game for Chelsea.
The centre-back emotionally announced last month he will leave the Blues this summer upon the end of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Silva signed for Chelsea in 2020 after leaving Paris-Saint Germain and has maintained his world-class quality for the side ever since.
Sunday’s home clash against Bournemouth on the final day of the Premier League season looks set to be his 155th and final appearance for the club.
And ahead of what is set to be an emotional farewell, Chelsea legend Terry expressed his thanks to Silva for his immense efforts.
Taking to Instagram, he said: “Good Luck today in what will be an emotional day at the Bridge. @chelseafc. Thank you for everything you have done for our club, we Love You my friend.
“It’s been a pleasure to watch you play week after week, to watch you train and see how you look after yourself before games and after games has been inspiring, I just wish I was a few years younger because I would have loved to have played alongside you at the back.
“Good luck for the future @thiagosilva JT LEGEND.”
Silva initially signed a one-year deal at Chelsea with the option of a second but extended his stay on a further two occasions.
The 39-year-old proved crucial en route to Champions League glory in his debut season despite going off injured in the final against Manchester City.
He also won the Super Cup and Club World Cup, with Silva being named as Chelsea’s Player and Players’ Player of the Year last season.
Silva will leave Stamford Bridge as a fan favourite given his consistent passion and dedication to the side despite their recent shortcomings.
Supporters will be able to watch the veteran defender in action for one final time before he returns to Brazilian side Fluminense this summer.
Chelsea need just a point against Bournemouth to secure some form of European football next season.
The Blues currently sit sixth in the Premier League table and such a finish would see them qualify for the Europa Conference League.
However, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will secure a Europa League spot in sixth should Manchester City beat Manchester United in the FA Cup final.
Chelsea could even finish fifth on the final day and guarantee Europa League football with a win over Bournemouth, but they would also have to rely on Sheffield United beating Tottenham.
