Celtic F.C. vs St Mirren F.C. predictions
Celtic are the champions of Scotland for the third time in a row and the 54th time overall.
A 5-0 victory over Kilmarnock on Wednesday night moved them six points clear of Rangers with a single set of fixtures remaining. Brendan Rodgers’ team can no longer be caught at the summit of the standings.
The triumph over Kilmarnock in midweek sealed the deal, but last weekend’s 2-1 defeat of arch-rivals Rangers was the key result. Had Celtic lost that game, the pair would have been level on points with a week of the campaign remaining.
As it was, Celtic’s triumph put them in a near-unassailable position. The sending-off of John Lundstram on the stroke of half-time undoubtedly aided the Hoops, but the Rangers man only had himself to blame for a bad tackle.
It has not been entirely plain sailing for Rodgers in the first season of his second spell in the Celtic Park dugout.
The former Leicester City boss attracted criticism as Celtic finished bottom of their Champions League group, securing their only victory after they had already been eliminated from Europe.
Back-to-back Premiership defeats by Kilmarnock and Hearts in December piled more pressure on Rodgers, who was also blamed by some for not getting the best out of players like Kyogo Furuhashi, Greg Taylor and Alistair Johnston.
Rodgers was helped by the fact that Rangers were in an even worse position in the first half of the season. Michael Beale’s tenure did not go at all to plan, with Steven Gerrard’s former assistant sacked after losing three of his first seven Premiership games this term.
In the end, though, Rodgers and Celtic deserve credit for winning the title by a reasonably comfortable margin.
They will now be looking to end the Premiership season on a high by beating St Mirren, before the Scottish Cup final against their chief adversaries next weekend.
Celtic vs St Mirren betting tips
Celtic have already wrapped up the Premiership title ahead of this clash with St Mirren on Saturday.
Celtic to win and both teams to score – 13/8 (bet365)
Celtic will not be the only club celebrating on Saturday. St Mirren also have reason to cheer having already wrapped up European qualification.
Stephen Robinson’s team will enter the Europa Conference League in the second qualifying round next term. It is the first time St Mirren have qualified for continental competition since 1986/87, when they booked a place in the following year’s Cup Winners’ Cup.

It is quite the achievement for a club that is guaranteed to finish in the top five of the top tier for the first time in 39 years.
St Mirren have somewhat limped over the finish line, however, losing four of their last five matches. They will struggle to halt Celtic when the two teams go head-to-head this weekend.
Yet because the Hoops have already secured the title, they might not play with their usual intensity and focus here. As a result, it is easy to envisage goals at both ends.

Celtic to score in both halves – 8/11 (bet365)
Celtic played some glorious attacking football under Ange Postecoglou, particularly last season when they scored an astonishing 114 goals in the Premiership.
They will not get close to that tally this time around, but a single strike this weekend would better the tally that Postecoglou’s side managed in his first season at the helm.
Celtic and Rangers have pretty similar defensive records, so it is the former’s superior record going forward that has made the difference. Celtic lead the way for goals scored, expected goals and shots on target.
Rodgers’ men have scored in 18 of their 37 games so far, including three of the last four.
They will fancy their chance of doing so once more against a St Mirren side that has conceded 15 goals in its last seven outings.

Matt O’Riley to score any time – 8/5 (bet365)
What a season this has been for Matt O’Riley.
No Celtic player has scored more goals in the Premiership. That would have been unthinkable last term when the former MK Dons man found the back of the net just three times in the league.
A return of 17 goals would have been impressive enough if O’Riley was a striker. He is not. The Denmark international plays in central midfield, from where he has also provided 16 assists.
O’Riley has produced the goods in the run-in, a time when the biggest players stand up to be counted.
The midfielder has scored six times in Celtic’s last seven outings. He will be full of confidence right now and therefore represents an excellent choice in this market, especially as he takes penalties for Rodgers’ team.
