Billy Joe Saunders believes Tyson Fury’s father has helped solve a major issue ahead of his fight with Oleksandr Usyk.
‘The Gypsy King’ has the chance to become the first four-belt heavyweight champion in history when he takes on Usyk in Saudi Arabia on Saturday night.
However, he nearly missed out on the WBC, WBA, WBO, and IBF title clash when he laboured to a controversial split decision win over Francis Ngannou last October.
The former UFC heavyweight champion sensationally dropped Fury in his boxing debut and was considered by some unlucky to come away without the win.
Saunders, who is Fury’s long-time friend, blamed his poor performance on a lack of focus, which was brought on by ‘yes men’ in his camp.
The former two-weight world champion wrote on Instagram: “Too many yes men in camp, not switched on from the word go. But he be switched on for the Ukrainian.”

John Fury has made headlines this week after headbutting a member of Usyk’s team and threatening to do the same to Tony Bellew and Carl Froch.
Despite his often-outlandish behaviour, Saunders says Fury Snr runs a tight ship and is sure he will have made major training changes after the Ngannou fight.
“His father, John Fury, would’ve put a stop to that,” Saunders told talkSPORT’s White & Jordan when asked if he’s still concerned about the people in Fury’s camp.
“That was a wake-up call. If he comes in how he boxed Ngannou it’s goodnight, Night Nurse. Forget about it.
“That’s being honest, he can’t afford to come in any way, shape, or form like that performance.”
The WBC heavyweight champion has seriously slimmed down since his fight with Ngannou and appears to be laser-focused on winning at the Kingdom Arena.
Saunders believes this version of Fury will make history against Usyk.
He added: “You can just look at his shape, the form he’s in and the spirit.
“I looked at a picture of him and some video footage of the build-up, he looks fresh, he looks up for this, he looks very much up for this.
“I can only see a Tyson Fury points win.”
What Is An Undisputed World Champion?
In boxing, an undisputed world champion is someone who wins all of the four major world title belts in their division – WBA, WBC, IBF and WBO.
Fury currently has the WBC while Usyk holds the WBA, IBF and WBO. Therefore, the winner will hold all four belts as undisputed king.
The last man to hold all the belts in the division was Lennox Lewis when he beat Evander Holyfield to add his WBA and IBF titles to the WBC belt before what is now known as the ‘four-belt era’ with the WBO being recognised from 2004.
