York 3.15 – Swingalong each way
SWINGALONG hasn’t been seen yet this season, but the filly has to be taken seriously on the comeback after a 207-day hiatus. The daughter of Showcasing showed smart form last term, bagging a Group 3 over course and distance, to compliment her win as a 2-year-old in the Lowther, meaning that she has won on both her visits to the Knavesmire.
Trainer Karl Burke has an embarrassment of riches in this line-up, but his best hope could be this classy individual who seems to save her best for the Yorkshire venue. Clifford Lee takes the ride on this unexposed sort, and although she will need to take another step forwards here – she is at the track which can see her elevate her game to the next level.

York 3.45 – Friendly Soul
The Musidora is very much a race to get excited about, with the participants looking to try and stake their claim to be getting in the shake-up for even bigger targets, including the Oaks at Epsom in just over two weeks’ time. FRIENDLY SOUL doesn’t have an entry for the big one at Epsom as things stand, but that could all change by putting in an emphatic performance here.
Unbeaten in both starts, the daughter of Kingman looked smart on her first start on turf on her seasonal bow at Newmarket recently, ultimately making light work of that Listed assignment. This represents deeper waters, but she is clearly a filly going places, and 10f at York should be absolutely perfect for her. Kieran Shoemark is in the saddle for the Gosden team, and the combination look like the class act here.

York 4.15 – Fire Demon
FIRE DEMON has really been very progressive in recent months on the all-weather, winning three of his last four starts, and looks to have major claims here for the Andrew Balding team. A mark of 93 demands more, but he has been going through the gears, and this switch back to turf should pose no problems at all.
He has been hitting the line strongly over 6f in his most recent assignments, so with that in mind, a step back up to 7f looks tailor made for him here. The Balding yard have been in fine fettle at present, and Oisin Murphy has been banging in the winners, so it is not an exaggeration to say there are in form connections. He’s a strong traveller who should stay and has a touch of class – just what you want on the Knavesmire.
