John Fury claims his son is set to be at his lightest weight when he faces Oleksandr Usyk.
The lowest Tyson Fury has ever stepped on the scales at is 245.5lbs for his bout with Vinny Maddalone in 2012 while he weighed 247lbs for his best win to date against Wladimir Klitschko in 2015.
In recent years, Fury’s fight weight has fluctuated between the mid 260lbs mark and the high end of 270lbs.
Fury tipped the scales at a career-heaviest 277.7lbs for his last outing against Francis Ngannou.
But he could come in more than 30lbs lighter for his four-belt shootout on Saturday, at least according to his dad.
“You can see Tyson is in fabulous shape,” Fury Sr told iFL TV ahead of Friday’s weigh in.

“He’s grinded and he’s worked his ass off, I just think myself Usyk has to bring something that we haven’t done before.
“I’ve watched him do AJ, I’ve watched every fight he’s had and that can’t beat The Gypsy King, not on this form, not on this mindset, career-lightest, he’s look well and mean. You’ll see on Saturday night.”
The Mancunian has always carried a bit of extra timber around his midriff but ahead of his undisputed fight with Usyk he is looking far more trim than usual.
After uploading a picture of his physique to Instagram on Thursday, nine days out from the fight, fans flooded to the comments section to applaud his stunning transformation.
Reacting to the post, one fan wrote: “Fury got abs and everythin,g will be an interesting fight.”
Another commented: “Shape of his life.”
A third added: “Fit as f*** ya big dosser.”
Someone else remarked: “Best shape I’ve seen you in mate.”
New pictures of his physique don’t look quite as impressive as the one he uploaded last week but it is still a marked improvement on the shape he was in for the Ngannou fight.
Fury looked a shadow of his former self as he narrowly edged a decision over the boxing novice in October.
The overriding narrative coming out after the fight was that Fury had underestimated Ngannou and hadn’t trained properly.
But it appears that is not the case heading into the weekend.
Fury’s promoter Frank Warren recently joined talkSPORT Fight Night and declared his client is in the best shape of his career.
He said: “He’s in tremendous shape not just physically but mentally.
“I’m confident we are going to get a vintage performance, I spoke to him during the week.
“He’s in a very good shape I think, and although he had that cut it has come good as he has had back-to-back camps.
“Physically I have never seen him look so well. The worry was going straight into a training camp was that he’d peak too soon.
“He has worked really hard so that he is in his best nick on May 18.
“I just feel he is going to put on a magnificent performance and stop Usyk.”
