Pep Guardiola has revealed that Kevin de Bruyne was dropped to the bench because he was ‘vomiting’ before the match.
Manchester City take on Real Madrid at the Bernabeu on Tuesday night in the fist leg of their Champions League tie, live on talkSPORT 2 and one notable name was missing from the visitors’ line-up.
Fans were left boggled by Guardiola’s decision to bench De Bruyne but the Catalan coach has since explained why.
“He feels unwell,” he said before kick-off.
“We made a meeting, he was ready, and when we arrived, in the locker room he started to vomit and he said: ‘I’m not ready’.”
