Reece James has announced he is finally fit to feature to give Chelsea a major boost ahead of their clash against Nottingham Forest.
The Blues skipper hasn’t played since coming off injured against Everton on December 12, resulting in him undergoing hamstring surgery.
But he is poised to be selected in the club’s matchday squad when Chelsea take on the Reds at the City Ground later on Saturday.
Taking to X – his first post in seven months – James treated his fans to the best possible news, simply writing: “See u [sic] @5:30 Blues.”
Chelsea were quick to reply to his upload, sharing a photo of the right-back donning the captain’s armband.
The Blues faithful have been left buzzing by the announcement, with one user commenting: “Let’s all pray for Nottingham Forest, our skippo is back.”
Another quipped: “Damn this tweet colder than Cold Palmer.”
A third added: “The best RB in the world is back.”
And this supporter messaged: “Scary hours, but not for us.”
Meanwhile this fan stated: “The GOAT is back.”
Boss Mauricio Pochettino hinted that the 24-year-old could be available to face Forest in his pre-match press conference on Friday.
He remarked: “The most important thing is for him [James] to be there with us.
“Always to have your captain is a massive boost. We have an amazing relationship and he is an amazing player.
“It’s not easy when you come from a long-term injury. If he can play five, ten, 15, 20 [minutes] or half an hour, that would be amazing.”
Victory for Chelsea over Forest would boost their chances of securing European qualification – something that seemed unlikely last month.
Back-to-back victories in the London derbies over Tottenham and West Ham have left the club sitting in seventh spot.
And they could leapfrog above Newcastle into a Europa League place should the Magpies slip up against Brighton at St James’ Park.
