Arsenal will be aiming to pile the misery onto Manchester United when they travel to Old Trafford this Sunday afternoon.
The Red Devils come into this game off the back of an embarrassing 4-0 loss to Crystal Palace which kept them eighth in the table.
Erik ten Hag’s side collapsed at Selhurst Park and were battered by the Eagles, setting them up for their worst-ever Premier League finish.
They will need a win against the Gunners to help prevent that, but Mikel Arteta’s men have won four in a row and must keep winning to have a chance of lifting the title.
Manchester United vs Arsenal: Red Devils records
Man United are having a record-breaking season… for all the wrong reasons.
The 4-0 defeat to Crystal Palace was their 13th of the campaign in total, which is their most ever in the Premier League.

In all competitions, the Red Devils have now lost 18 times and they last lost more than that in 1977/78, with another defeat equalling their old record of 19.
It meant they remained in eighth place in the table with only three games to play, with the club never finishing below seventh before.
Ten Hag’s side are on the brink of their worst-ever finish and after conceding another four goals, they have now let in 81 this season.
They last conceded more in 1970/71 when they let in 82 which means a couple for Arsenal would condemn them to another unwanted record.
- Arsenal are looking to complete the league double over Manchester United for the first time since 2006-07, while they last won three in a row against the Red Devils between November 1997 and September 1998.
- Manchester United have lost just one of their last 16 Premier League home games against Arsenal (W10 D5), going down 1-0 in November 2020.
Manchester United vs Arsenal: Team news
Bruno Fernandes missed the first game of his career through injury against Palace.
The United captain joined Harry Maguire and Marcus Rashford on the sidelines while Scott McTominay was also ruled out.
Jonny Evans is one of the only fit centre-backs at the club with Raphael Varane and Victor Lindelof out while Luke Shaw, Tyrell Malacia and Anthony Martial are also injured.
However, there is some good news for the Red Devils as Lisandro Martinez has returned to training along with Rashford, and they are likely to be involved in some way, while Fernandes should be fit.
As for Arsenal, they have a fully fit squad with Jurrien Timber back in training.
Timber is returning from eight months out though, so isn’t expected to play any part in this game at Old Trafford.
- Manchester United have lost at home to London sides Crystal Palace and Fulham in the league already this season; only twice before have they lost to three sides from the capital in a single Premier League campaign, with both instances featuring defeat to Arsenal (2001-02 and 2020-21).
- Having failed to score in 12 of their first 22 Premier League away games against Manchester United, Arsenal have found the net in each of their last nine league visits to Old Trafford.
Manchester United vs Arsenal: What has been said?
Ten Hag was asked whether he was the right person to turn Man United’s fortunes around after a dismal season.
He told talkSPORT at Selhurst Park on Monday night: “I don’t think about this.
“I have to prepare the team, we have huge problems so if I worry about my future… it’s not about me, it’s about the team and the club.
“You see the fans are backing us so they deserve a team that has energy.”
He later told Sky Sports: “I will keep fighting. I prepared the team in the best way I could do.
“It was not good enough, I have to take responsibility for that but I will find energy and prepare them for Sunday’s game [against Arsenal].
“It’s clear, it’s obvious, this is under-performing. We didn’t act how we wanted to and it’s not good enough. We are very disappointed.
“Our fans were behind us and we should have kept fighting like the fans did.
“There are always reasons, everyone sees our back line – we have huge problems. At the end of the day, we have to deal with it and we should have done better.”
- Bukayo Saka has been involved in five Premier League goals against Manchester United (3 goals, 2 assists), registering a goal (3) or assist (1) in each of his last four against them. Only Thierry Henry (12) has had a hand in more against the Red Devils for Arsenal than Saka in the competition.
- Arsenal have kept 10 clean sheets away from home in the Premier League this season, last keeping more on the road in a single top-flight campaign in 1990-91 (13).
