Jurgen Klopp and Mohamed Salah were involved in an argument on the touchline during Liverpool’s trip to West Ham.
Reds forward Salah was dropped for the match and introduced after a Hammers equaliser to make it 2-2 on 77 minutes.
Manager Klopp was seen giving instructions to the Egyptian, which led to a heated exchange.
Salah was gesticulating furiously at the German, who appeared to be backing away to diffuse the situation.
Striker Darwin Nunez, who had also been left out of the starting XI, eventually intervened to hold his teammate back.
Klopp rung the changes after a 2-0 defeat to Everton on Wednesday night – which all-but ended Liverpool’s hopes of winning the Premier League title.
It followed a recent 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace and elimination from the Europa League at the hands of Atalanta.
