    Drew McIntyre has explained his actions towards the “selfish monster” that is CM Punk at WWE WrestleMania 40.

    At WWE WrestleMania 40 Night Two, Drew McIntyre defeated Seth Rollins to win the World Heavyweight Championship. Post match, McIntyre celebrated by mocking CM Punk at commentary with the title.

    However, Punk got a measure of revenge by attacking McIntyre and hitting him with his arm brace. This led to Damian Priest coming down to cash in his Money In The Bank contract to defeat Drew and win the World Heavyweight Title.

    To add further insult to injury, Punk then cost McIntyre a Fatal Four Way match to determine the #1 contender for Priest’s gold on the WWE Raw After WrestleMania 40.

    On April 21, Drew McIntyre took to Twitter/X to post a video of himself answering the question of why he just didn’t leave after winning the World Heavyweight Championship at WrestleMania 40. He answered:

    “Let me break it down for you. This is everything I’ve ever worked for for 20 years, this was my moment that I’ve earned and I’m sorry if I want to soak in every single second of it at WrestleMania, make the world title moment last an eternity.”

    “Celebrate with my wife who’s been through hell my family who’s sacrificed so much, all my fans who have been through so much – 70,000 of them chanting ‘you deserve it’ – sorry for that.”

    “And then I saw Punk, and I admit I got carried away, I may have got a little freaky on the table but I told him I was going to rub the title in his stupid face and like I’ve said already but I guess it bears repeating for those that hear but don’t listen I’m a man of my word.”

    “And he didn’t raise one finger until I was distracted and assaulted me like the coward he is. Some of you support him despite that incident and the amount of proof over the years of what kind of selfish monster that idiot is.”

    On the fans continuing to ask him “why didn’t he just leave,” Drew said:

    “For those that ask ‘why didn’t you just leave?’ If you ever amount to anything just remember, by your own logic you’re not allowed to enjoy the moment.”

    “Don’t get carried away now, don’t let that adrenaline consume you, don’t do what you literally promised you would do prior and then you go ahead and do it because others might have an issue and ask stupid questions like ‘why don’t you just walk away?’”

    “And oh yeah, the internet is telling the truth I’ve said it in interviews already, I am hurt but I keep pushing through because I’m not a pathetic, coward, little b**ch like CM Punk.”
