Daily horse racing tips
- LONGCHAMP
2.50: Romantic Style (1.5pts)
3.30: Henry Longfellow (1pt) - NEWCASTLE
6.30: Billy Mill Each-way (1pt)
Romantic Style
Charlie Appleby-trained filly owned by Godolphin for the classic team we all know well in these sorts of group contests.
She’s by Night Of Thunder and looks the real deal having beaten Ramatuelle at Deauville in April and remains in France for this Group 1 fillies contest, the Poule d’Essai des Pouliches.
She won on heavy ground last time out so the soft ground won’t be an issue if it remains testing, and she’s now bidding for four straight wins, under both William Buick and Danny Tudhope.
She’s taking this route before heading to Royal Ascot in June with entries for the Commonwealth Cup and Coronation Stakes, with the latter likely the route if she takes to the 1m well.
That form against Tamfana and Ramatuelle has worked out incredibly well since too and looked quite comfortable in that victory to suggest there’s even more to come from this horse.
Henry Longfellow
Another raider from Britain and Ireland, this time in the shape of Aidan O’Brien-trained Henry Longfellow.
Who I had initially tipped each-way on the antepost for the 2000 Guineas.
He’s got strong form and looked exceptional as a two-year-old going unbeaten in 3/3 at the Curragh.
The latest of which a Group 1 and further extending his margins ahead of Islandsinthestream, who he also beat at the Curragh in a Group 2 in August.
He was up against the even favourite Bucanero Fuerte who stepped up to 7f for the first time, so it shows just how good this horse is set to be over 1m.
Billy Mill
Interesting 7f contest at Newcastle’s Premier Raceday on Sunday with some All-Weather action.
Mascapone hasn’t been seen in nearly 600 days on the track since placing behind Desert Order, a horse who has a mark of 95 with form lines with Epictetus, Arrest and Glenfinnan.
Probably best watched on return but has some strong form that could see him in the mix in his first run since October 2022 and first since being gelded.
Billy Mill is probably the most consistent though and easy to back each-way or to place.
Placing in the top three on his last five outings on the all-weather including last time out at Chelmsford in a Class 3.
Won over course and distance in March ahead of Greatgadian and only up 1lb from that win.
Coupled with being paired with in-form jockey Saffie Osborne makes a promising bet.
