Ryan Fox has showed that sporting greatness runs in the family with a stunning hole-in-one at the Players’ Championship.
Fox is the son of former All-Black star Grant Fox, the former star who holds the record for most points scored in a Rugby World Cup with 126.
But not one to stand in his father’s shadow, Fox grabbed the headlines with a stunning shot at TPC Sawgrass in Florida.
The iconic 17th hole is renowned for its difficult island green, meaning that competitors must be absolutely on the money or risk their ball heading for the water.
With 127 yards to the pin, many of golf’s top stars have fallen victim to the perilous nature of the hole.
Clearly not deterred by the challenge, Fox took aim on the par 3 hole and saw his shot effortlessly roll into the cup for a hole-in-one.
Such was the quality of his shot, the commentator could be heard saying: “That’s magic right there!”
There were three holes-in-one on the 17th hole last year with Aaron Rai, Alex Smalley and Hayden Buckley all completing the feat.
Fox’s round wasn’t limited to just one stunning hole though, with the New Zealand star posting an eagle on both the 16th and 17th.
As a result, the 37-year-old is now the first ever player to go Eagle-ace on the two hole in question.
Fox is a four-time winner on the DP World Tour and will be hoping to put in another impressive showing in Florida.
