Barcelona have released their new kit commemorating their 125-year history but fans are not entirely happy.
To celebrate Barcelona’s 125 years of history, the club have taken homage from their first-ever kit after releasing their latest strip.
The badge has been slapped in the middle with the traditional blue and maroon colours splitting the top down either side.
The release of the kit was greeted by huge fanfare with the announcement featuring club legend Ronaldinho, whose five years at the Nou Camp were unforgettable.
The video starts with a window reeling down with the Brazilian appearing in shades, an antique-looking football and his signature hand gesture.
A series of clips from the club’s history are shown with flashes of the new kit before Ronaldinho, who won the Ballon d’Or with Barca in 2005 as well as two LaLiga titles and the Champions League, says: “Let’s play.”
Several Barcelona players including Lamine Yamal, Raphinha, Robert Lewandowski and Pedri are shown in the video – and even club legends Carlos Puyol, Hristo Stoichkov and Andres Iniesta make an appearance.
There is even a cheeky jibe thrown at Real Madrid with a flash of Gerard Pique holding up five fingers amid a 5-0 mauling of their arch-rivals.
But while Barcelona put in a lot of production value into the announcement video, fans are not happy with the new kit.
That is because of the sponsor, Spotify, that has been labelled unnecessarily big on the shirt.
In response to the post that read “Inspired by the Club’s legacy, trajectory, and roots”, one user replied: “No it’s not it’s inspired by Spotify you sellouts.”
One fan said: “Logo ruined it, should’ve just been spotify written.”
Another wrote: “Can someone please start a petition to change the spotify logo?”
While a third posted: “Too bad the big Spotify unbalances the jersey.”
In perhaps a little sting to Ronaldinho, the new kit also exemplifies the 2008/09 campaign – a famous year for Barcelona as they won the treble with Pep Guardiola in charge of his first year.
However, the Catalan coach actually sold off the great Samba star that summer as he did not fit his tika-taka system, so not so many fond memories for Ronaldinho there.
