Patrick Beverley dismisses reporter who doesn’t subscribe to his podcast

Patrick Beverley’s postgame act was as bad as his in-game performance during the Bucks’ season-ending loss to the Pacers in Game 6 of their first-round playoff series Thursday night.

The Bucks guard — who finished with six points on 3-for-11 shooting in 40 points of play in Milwaukee’s 120-98 loss — told ESPN reporter Malinda Adams that she couldn’t ask him a question because she wasn’t subscribed to his podcast during a post game media scrum at his locker.

“Do you subscribe to my pod?” Beverley, 35, said in a video of the exchange that was posted on X.

When Adams said “I do not,” Beverley replied, “Well you can’t interview me then. No disrespect.”

Beverley then pushed Adams’ mic away and said, “Can you get that mic out of my face please.”

After that, Beverley interrupted another reporter’s question to continue chirping at Adams — who stood there, holding her mic, just as the other reporters were.

“Can you just move that mic please or get out of the circle please ma’am if you’re not subscribed to my pod,” he said. “I appreciate it. Thank you.”

Adams addressed the situation on Friday and explained that Beverley and the Bucks reached out to her to apologize.

“I want to thank everyone for their kind words and support. I am humbled,” Adams wrote on X. “Patrick Beverley just called me and apologized. I appreciate it and accept it. The Bucks also reached out to apologize. I’ve been in news for over 40 years and kindness and grace always win.”

Beverley received backlash from a number of other reporters and the “Inside the NBA” crew.

According to the Journal-Sentinel’s Lori Nickel, it is not the first time Beverley has pulled the stunt.

In a separate situation, Beverley got into it with Pacers fans sitting behind the Milwaukee bench.

With under three minutes left in the fourth quarter, while the Pacers led the Bucks 114-94, Beverley threw a ball, hard, at multiple fans, including a woman. It was the second time be tossed the ball at the group.

Beverley then brushed off a teammate who ran over and grabbed him to deescalate the situation.

He exchanged words with the fans, but it’s unclear what was said.

Taking to his X page Friday, Beverley reposted the video with the message: “Not fair at all. Exchanged between a fan and our ball club all night. We warned and asked for help all night. Not fair.”

Charles Barkley and Ernie Johnson weren’t happy with Beverley’s behavior.

“Listen, I’ve done stupid stuff and I got criticized. That’s just wrong,” Barkley said during TNT’s postgame show. “He’s going to get suspended for that and it’s going to be a good one because he didn’t do it once, he did it twice… That’s just stupid.”

Johnson added: “You don’t expect that from a 35-year-old, 12-year veteran.”

ESPN NFL reporter Kimberley Martin wrote in a post on X: “One thing we DO NOT tolerate is clown behavior … especially when directed at one of the best producers sports journalism — and ESPN — has ever seen. Gtfoh.”

Beverley wrote on X Friday morning that “I have to be better. And I will.”

It’s unclear if he was talking about being a non-factor on the court, violently interacting with fans or harassing reporters to prop up his podcast.

The NBA has yet to address Beverley’s behavior as of Friday morning.
