Keacy Carty and Brandon King’s centuries lead West Indies to a series-clinching victory over England in 3rd ODI

In an impressive performance at Kensington Oval, Bridgetown, the West Indies clinched a series victory against England, winning the third ODI by 8 wickets.

Lower-order rescues England after early wickets

Put in to bat first, England had a shaky start, losing Will Jacks (5), Jordan Cox (1) and Jacob Bethell (0) quickly as West Indies bowlers, especially Matthew Forde and Alzarri Joseph, took early control. Opener Philip Salt anchored the innings, scoring a determined 74 off 108 balls with 4 fours and a six, but struggled to find partnerships until the lower order stepped up.

Sam Curran provided stability with a solid 40 off 52 balls, hitting four boundaries, while Dan Mousley added 57 off 70 deliveries. A late onslaught by Jamie Overton (32 off 21 balls) and Jofra Archer (38 off 17 balls) propelled England past 250. Archer’s aggressive cameo, featuring 3 sixes and 2 fours, helped England reach a competitive total of 263/8.

Matthew Forde was the standout bowler for West Indies, claiming 3 wickets for 35 runs in his full quota of 10 overs, while Romario Shepherd and Alzarri Joseph contributed with two wickets each.

Brandon King and Keacy Carty seal the chase for West Indies with centuries

Chasing 264, West Indies openers Brandon King and Evin Lewis started briskly. Though Lewis was dismissed early for 19, his quick runs provided the initial momentum. King, however, held firm, constructing an outstanding knock. His 102 off 117 balls included 13 fours and a six, giving West Indies a strong base.

Keacy Carty then joined King, and together, they put on a monumental 173-run partnership that solidified the West Indies’ chase. Carty played fluently, scoring an unbeaten 124 off 112 balls, hitting 13 fours and 1 sixes, while showing immense maturity and control. His aggressive strokes in the final stages allowed West Indies to comfortably reach the target with seven overs to spare.

England’s bowlers, including Jofra Archer and Adil Rashid, struggled to break the partnership, and despite efforts from Reece Topley, who took 1/55 in his 9 overs, they couldn’t contain the Windies batters.

Player of the Match and Series outcome

Brandon King was named Player of the Match for his splendid century, which set the tone for a dominant chase. With this win, West Indies sealed the three-match ODI series 2-1. They previously won the first ODI by 8 wickets (DLS method), while England took the second match by 5 wickets.

Both teams will now shift their focus to the T20I series, with the first game scheduled for November 9 at the same venue.
