UFC commentators Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping were left stunned during the promotion’s first fight in Saudi Arabia.
On Saturday, Dana White put on a stacked night of fights at the Kingdom Arena in Riyadh, after recently striking a deal with boxing chief Turki Alalshikh.
A competitive bout between ChangHo Lee vs. Xiao Long kicked off the UFC’s inaugural show in Saudi Arabia, and it wasn’t long before a memorable moment took place.
At the end of an action-packed first frame, Lee and Long traded shots as the clock ticked down to zero and UFC commentator Jon Anik tried to go to an ad break.
However, the horn didn’t sound, the referee didn’t jump in and the two fighters continued to knock lumps out of one another.
Cormier and Bisping, who joined Anik in the broadcast booth, were initially stunned into silence before awkwardly reacting to round one being extended.

“Um… they’re still fighting,” Cormier said.
Bisping added: “There’s no horn.”
Anik asked: “Should I get up and scream that’s the round?”
‘DC’ did just that before the buzzer blurred and the fighters went back to their respective corners.
Footage of the bizarre and currently unexplained incident quickly went viral.
One fan commented: “Strange start to the event.”
Another said: “lmao what the heck is going on.”
Someone else joked: “They should get a bonus for overtime.”
The fight continued without any hiccups for the next two rounds, which were ridiculously competitive and resulted in a split decision verdict that could have gone either way.
Ultimately, Lee got two 29-28 scorecards from the three cageside judges and earned himself an official UFC contract by winning the ‘Road to the UFC’ bantamweight tournament.
