Viddal Riley was involved in a clash with two of his British rivals after his win over Mikael Lawal on Sunday night.
Riley comfortably outboxed Lawal to retain his English cruiserweight title – and now has eyes firmly set on a shot at the British belt.
In the immediate aftermath of his win, Riley was joined by the owner of that strap, Isaac Chamberlain, who had a few choice words for his rival.
“You were just running, if you box like that against me you’ve got another thing coming because this fight is nothing,” he said.
Riley fired back: “Listen, you beat that same guy and started shedding tears, do you see any tears on my face?”
“You didn’t perform,” replied Chamberlain. “What kind of performance was that? That performance was dead.
“Your own coach was telling you to be brave because you are not on it in that ring, you’re out here running scared.”
Chev Clarke, whom Chamberlain has been ordered to defend his British title against next, then attempted to make his way over to ringside and all hell broke loose.
The cameras cut away as security intervened and the three fighters were separated.
Regardless of the commotion, Riley proved tonight that he is a step above English level.
The champion was simply too much for Lawal, who struggled to lay a glove on Riley throughout the fight.
His silky footwork and peppering jab kept Lawal at bay while the challenger trudged forward.
As the contest drew on, Lawal began to edge closer, but Riley’s lateral movement meant the Shepherd’s Bush slugger was unable to set his feet and land the eye-catching shot he was lining up.
In the end, Lawal couldn’t make a dent in Riley and the judges’ scorecards reflected the one-sided nature of the contest.
One judge had it 98-92 in the ‘The Rilest’s’ favour.
Meanwhile, the other two had him winning nine out of ten rounds at 99-91.
