Carlos Alcaraz felt the wrath of centre court after a joke about Euro 2024 turned him into the pantomime villain.
The Spaniard had secured a four-set victory over Daniil Medvedev to earn his spot in the men’s singles finals at Wimbledon on Sunday.
While Alcaraz has been enjoying his tennis during his trip to London, he’s also been watching plenty of football with Euro 2024 taking place in Germany.
A huge Real Madrid fan, Alcaraz has already showed how invested he is by frantically asking in a post-match interview what the score was during Spain’s quarter-final clash with Germany.
England supporters are feeling super patriotic right now as they prepare for the Three Lions’ huge clash with Spain in Berlin on Sunday, something that Alcaraz cheekily tried to banter about during his post-match interview on centre court on Friday.
Asked by Annabel Croft about the Wimbledon final on Sunday, Alcaraz joked: “It is going to be a really good day for Spanish people as well with the Euro Cup.”
Alcaraz then smiled as fans in attendance at centre court booed the Wimbledon finalist with banter in the air.
The Spaniard then backtracked, saying: “I didn’t say Spain is going to win.
“I am just saying that it is going to be a really fun day!”
Alcaraz will no doubt be praying for a perfect Sunday which will see him crowned Wimbledon champion for a second time, while also seeing his country come out victorious in the Euro 2024 final.
England’s clash with Spain will be live on talkSPORT on Sunday night, with kick-off set for 8pm.
